The winter weather isn't the only thing that's frightful about this unconventional holiday offering about a toy maker whose obsession with Christmas spirals dangerously out of control. After enduring a traumatic childhood in which he learned there was no such thing as Santa Claus, Harry Stadling (Brandon Maggart) takes it upon himself to judge the "naughty" and the "nice." But instead of spreading cheer, he opts for fear.
I was in the Christmas spirit and wanted to watch a bunch of Christmas Slasher films. Netflix didn't have many to choose from, and most were on waits. But I got this one. The ratings were HORRIBLE for it. Just under 1 star...out of 5! But, a lot of GOOD horror movies have bad ratings there... Continue reading
The town of Leadville, Colorado is plagued by a mysterious flu. Soon the towns people are turning into ultra fast flesh eating zombies. The military has been called in to quarantine the entire town, nobody in or out. Soon even they can’t help the situation as they are eaten by the hordes of zombies. Corporal Sarah Bowman, and a small group of people attempt to survive and head out of town. This is a remake of George A. Romero’s Day of the Dead.
I have NOT seen the original film, and at this point in time I don’t plan to. I’m a fan of the original Night of the Living Dead, and I enjoyed the remake a lot. I saw the original Dawn of the Dead years ago and thought it was horrible. I truly believe its one of those movies a lot of people like because everyone else does... Continue reading
After opening his gifts on Christmas, little 8 year old Devin Merriman butchers his father and housekeeper when he discovers them having sex. Fast forward 15 years later and Devin has been locked away in a mental ward. He hasn't spoken a word in 15 years. After his mother visits him for Christmas he escapes and people start turning up dead in this "holiday" film.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I rented this one off Netflix. All I knew was that I wanted to see some Christmas horror - Tis the season right? Well, for the most part I don't trust the rating system for horror films on Netflix, too many good movies have one or two stars. This one had two. So I was hoping it was watchable. It wasn't! While on their way home for Thanksgiving break, five college kids run afoul of a homicidal turkey that wants them dead. As the cursed bird hunts them down one by one, the survivors scramble to find a way to defeat the possessed creature. Will the bloodthirsty turkey make this their last Thanksgiving feast ever?
Are you a fan of horribly bad movies? Are you a fan of intentionally horribly bad movies that make you laugh? If not, don't bother with the movie. It really isn't a HORROR movie. Its more like a skit that would be done on MadTV or SNL... Continue reading
After a run in with a satanic emo band, hot cheerleader Jennifer (Megan Fox) is transformed into a demon with an insatiable appetite for high school boys. Now, it's up to Jennifer's best friend, Needy (Amanda Seyfried), to protect the guys from the bloodthirsty man-eater. This co-stars Adam Brody as the devil-worshipping band's lead singer.
I had been wanting to see this movie for awhile, and ended up getting an early screener to review. So I watched the extended edition which ran about an hour and 40 minutes. Which was way too long for this movie. I can honestly say, I think Diablo Cody should quit writing. I thought Juno was terrible, and this film was worse... Continue reading
Every Christmas for 15 years Billy has tried to escape from his jail cell, to return to his childhood home where he killed his family. He manages to escape and goes back home where he finds that his house is now a sorority house. This is a remake of the 1974 film, and this review is for the unrated version.
The first time I saw this was when it came out on DVD. I had seen the original once years before but didn't remember it enough to compare. A few days before writing this review I sat down to watch and review the original Black Christmas, so now I can compare... Continue reading
Four young people are traveling in search of a place to ride out the virus that has taken over the world. They have three rules they live by; 1. Avoid the infected at all costs. Their breath is highly contagious. 2. Disinfect anything they've touched in the last 24 hours. 3. The sick are already dead. They can't be saved. You break the rules, you die. You follow them, you live.
It sounded like a decent movie to me. I heard it compared to Stephen King's The Stand in one Netflix review, and I LOVED The Stand. I might have gotten myself a little hyped up and expected too much. While this movie wasn't bad, it didn't have a whole hell of a lot going for it either... Continue reading
The film follows four American friends on vacation in Cancún, Mexico. They meet a German tourist and he persuades them to join his hunt for his younger brother, Henrich, last seen headed off with a girl to some ruins she and her archaeological dig group are working on. The four soon regret their impulsive decision after they find the group missing, and the locals won't allow them to leave. Based on the novel by Scott B. Smith.
I read the book shortly before the movie came out to theaters. I got into it not knowing anything about it, and I was really disappointed once I knew what it really was about. This is a spoiler, but its one I think everyone should know...the movie is about intelligent vines that kill people. Yes, killer plants..... Continue reading
During Christmas break, a sorority house is receiving sexually obscene phone calls. They start getting very weird, but they are just prank calls right? That's what the girls think until one of the sorority girls goes missing, and is nowhere to be found. Soon a little girl is found murdered in town, and the police realize they have a killer on the loose that could be tied to the obscene phone calls.
I first saw this back in the late 90s I think, and I didn't enjoy it at all. I was at a totally different place in my life - a teenager that didn't want to even look at an "old" movie. I decided since it was December and my tastes had changed I should really give it another viewing... Continue reading
Donna and her friends head off to senior prom, but what Donna doesn’t know is that a killer who stalked her years ago has followed her to the hotel where Prom is taking place. One by one her friends are killed off as he tries to get her alone. Will Donna be able to escape? This is loosely remade from the 1980 film of the same title starring Jamie Lee Curtis.
Other then this taking part at a prom, and the title, there is nothing in it like the original film (from what I remember). It wasn't that bad of a movie, if say you are a 12-13yr old who has never seen a horror movie... Continue reading
