Plot: Mike, who’s parents have died, is being raised by his older brother Jody. Fearing Jody will leave him behind he follows his brother anywhere and everywhere. Including a funeral. There he witnesses a Tall Man (the mortician) lift a casket alone and put it in the hearse. Mike then decides to go back and snoop around, only to discover that the mortuary is guarded by flying spears, the Tall Man, and other creatures.

My Review: Growing up I recall my older sisters watching this and me catching glimpses of it and being scared out of my mind. Netflix had it streaming for the last two months and I just never got around to watching it. I was too worried that it was going to suck so I just kept putting it off. But it was going off the site tomorrow so I had to watch it if I wanted to see it.
I wish I hadn’t bothered. It was a horrible movie. Not even remotely scary. Not even remotely entertaining for that matter. About 35 to 40 minutes into the movie there were dwarf dead people in hooded black gowns, which we soon find out they were actually real regular sized people once. I lost ALL interest in the movie after that and didn’t know what was going on after a certain point. It was just NOT my type of movie. I just kept thinking “Oh my god, this movie needs to end”
It just got worse from there…a room in the mortuary where there is a portal to a planet where the dead bodies go and they get transformed into little dead people…seriously, what the fuck…I’m still baffled that this movie went on to spawn 3 sequels and actually has a large fan base.
Gore: Really only one scene sticks out in my mind as being gory. One kill with the spear ball…thingy…and blood pouring out of it…Very unrealistic. But does that matter when you are dealing with hooded dwarf people from another planet?
Sexual Content: Couple shots of boobs.
Acting: Not horrible for the time it was released, actually pretty decent. By today’s standards it wasn’t very good, but I’ve seen much much worse.
Overall: Bad movie. I would not recommend it to people who enjoy their horror a little more realistic (what I’ve started to enjoy more recently). Maybe its one of those movies where you have to really REALLY enjoy older films, or have grown up on it. I dunno, but I thought it was HORRIBLE!
