Hellraiser (1987)

A couple move into an old house and discover a hideous creature - the man's half-brother (and his wife's former lover) - hiding upstairs. Having lost his earthly body to three demons, the man's been brought back to life by a drop of blood on the floor. Soon, he's forcing his former mistress to bring him human sacrifices to complete his body.

I know I’ve seen this movie before but I didn’t really remember it except for a funky looking dude in an attic. I saw it many many years ago as a teenager and I just didn’t get the fascination with it. Recently the movie channels have been playing the first three so I decided to DVR them and attempt to get into them again… Continue reading

I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)

The summer before college, four teens on their way home from a competition’s after-party accidentally hit a stranger with their car. Assuming the man is dead, and afraid of what will happen to them if they call the police, they decide to dump his body in the water. Fast forward one year and each of them are receiving notes stating “I know what you did last summer”, its not long before people start dying in this movie slightly based on the novel "I Know What You Did Last Summer" by Lois Duncan.

I actually remember when this came out back in 1997. Scream had just rebooted the Slasher genre, actually it rebooted horror in general. All of the sudden it was a good thing to be in a horror movie. And as the years came to pass that was even more true... Continue reading

JAWS (1975)

When a gigantic great white shark begins to menace the small island community of Amity, a police chief, a marine scientist and grizzled fisherman set out to stop it. Based on the best selling book JAWS by Peter Benchley.

I’ve always been a HUGE fan of JAWS. Its one of the only movies that have ever genuinely terrified me. My family and I used to travel to a beach up in New Hampshire numerous times every summer in the 80s when I was a kid. Funny enough, I used to have... Continue reading

Those who remain are compelled to follow one of two mysterious figures, leading to an immense winner-take-all battle between good and evil. Adapted from Stephen King's novel.

I saw this for the first time YEARS ago, probably back when I was 15ish, so sometime in 1997, and I recall LOVING it. I even tried to read the book once, and that’s like 1000 pages or close to it. I got halfway through the book and lost it. Found it a year or so later with the bookmark still in it, but I couldn't pick it back up from there. So I gave up... Continue reading

The Ruins (2008)

The film follows four American friends on vacation in Cancún, Mexico. The four soon regret their impulsive decision after they find the group missing, and the locals won't allow them to leave. Based on the novel by Scott B. Smith.

I read the book shortly before the movie came out to theaters. I got into it not knowing anything about it, and I was really disappointed once I knew what it really was about. This is a spoiler, but its one I think everyone should know...the movie is about intelligent vines that kill people. Yes, killer plants..... Continue reading
