Bait (2012)

A group of survivors suddenly find themselves trapped inside a submerged supermarket, following a freak tsunami. As they try to escape, they discover that there is a predator among them more deadly than the threat of drowning—vicious great white sharks lurking in the water, hungry for fresh meat. As the bloodthirsty sharks begin to pick the survivors off one by one, the group realizes that they must work together to find a way out without being eaten alive.

Quite frankly I hadn’t heard about this until I was offered to review it a couple weeks back, and I honestly thought it was going to be a terrible movie... Continue reading

Chained (2012)

When he was 9 years old, Tim and his mother were abducted by serial killer Bob. While Tim's mother fell victim to Bob, Tim was kept as a chained slave, forced to bury the bodies of the young women Bob drags home and keep scrapbooks of the crimes.

Another movie that I had never heard of before until it arrived on my doorstep. Quite frankly when I read the plot description and discovered who played the serial killer I thought I was going to be in for a bad movie. Continue reading

Chillerama (2011)

The screams -- and laughs -- come fast and furious in this anthology of four tongue-in-cheek horror tales, each from a different writer/director. The baddies range from a gang of gay "werebears" and a monster sperm to Nazi madmen and zombies.

I went into this movie not knowing a thing about it other then Adam Green had something to do with it. I love his films Hatchet & Frozen, and that’s why I requested this to review on BluRay... Continue reading

Dead Man Walking by Marty Shaw (Book Review)

Griffin knew watching an inmate being put to death wouldn't be fun, but he never expected Callahan to return as something less than human. Now Griffin, along with a handful of officers and inmates, are trapped within the walls of a prison as a legion of the walking dead stalk them for food. The choice is simple - fight back or die.

Seeing how this is a short story, there isn’t all that much to write about in response to how I liked the story other then saying I loved it... Continue reading

Excision (2012)

AnnaLynne McCord stars in this odd horror flick as Pauline, A disturbed and delusional high school student with aspirations of a career in medicine goes to extremes and likes to dissect roadkill. The one person who understands Pauline is her little sister, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, who Pauline wants to help cure.

I kept putting this movie off, because based on the plot description it didn’t seem like something entertaining enough for me to enjoy, however it was mailed to me to watch, so I really wanted to get through it... Continue reading

Fright Night (2011)

Charley is a high school senior who’s on top of the world—he’s running with the popular crowd and dating Amy, the most coveted girl in school. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a nice guy––at first. But there’s something not quite right, and no one else, including Charley’s mom seems to notice. After his classmates start to mysteriously disappear without a trace, Charlie discovers that there is more to his new neighbor than meets the eye. Now he must do all he can to protect his mom and girlfriend Amy.

When I heard they were remaking this movie I got pissed. I loved the original film. Grew up with it. I even “sorta” enjoyed Fright Night Part 2. I had no idea what to expect out of a remake for this... Continue reading

Helter Skelter by Bryan Cassiday (Book Review)

[rating:2/5] Evildoers run riot across the sun-drenched Southern California landscape in Helter Skelter. Zombies, vampires, and other wicked creatures wreak mayhem and carnage in these shocking horror short stories by Bryan Cassiday. Not all of these tales feature supernatural creatures. Some of the evil creatures are human--perhaps the most terrifying creature of all. These stories defy logic, yet they obey their own inexorable logic of fear. Continue reading

Holliston (2012) The First Season

Two down-on-their-luck aspiring horror movie filmmakers try to break out of their small hometown of Holliston, Mass., and into the Hollywood big leagues while struggling to make ends meet and learning to deal with the opposite sex. Starring horror directors Adam Green and Joe Lynch.

Being that I have “liked” Adam Green’s page on Facebook, I’ve often seen his updates regarding FearNet’s first original show, Holliston. But in all honesty, I had no idea what it was about... Continue reading

JAWS (1975)

When a gigantic great white shark begins to menace the small island community of Amity, a police chief, a marine scientist and grizzled fisherman set out to stop it. Based on the best selling book JAWS by Peter Benchley.

I’ve always been a HUGE fan of JAWS. Its one of the only movies that have ever genuinely terrified me. My family and I used to travel to a beach up in New Hampshire numerous times every summer in the 80s when I was a kid. Funny enough, I used to have... Continue reading

Jest (It Waits No Longer) by David Warren (Book Review)

College student Nicole Carzon is stunned to find herself named heir to her grandfather's castle in England. When she and her friends arrive there, they are overwhelmed with the history and nostalgia pulsating from the 600-year-old Bodlum Castle. However, they soon come to realize, this castle has an ancient occupant that has been lying dormant and patiently waiting for hundreds of years. It waits no longer.

I was contacted by the author to give this one a shot, and quite frankly I had no idea what to expect from this one. The cover and name obviously had something to do with a Jester... Continue reading
