The Wicked (2013)

Local stories warn that deep in the woods, a witch with a ravenous hunger feeds on the flesh of the young. In an abandoned house in the woods, she hunts her victims and if you try to enter, you'll never see daylight again.

Shortly after having this sent to me to review I took a quick glace at Amazon’s rating of this movie. It was actually decent at almost 4 stars I believe (IMDB is a 3/10!). I didn’t bother checking out the reviews... Continue reading

The Frozen (2012)

After a snowmobile accident, a young couple is stranded in the woods and must survive while waiting for help to arrive. Events take a turn for the worse after the disappearance of Emma's boyfriend, leaving her on her own not only to battle the elements, but also to elude a mysterious hunter who is tracking her through the forest.

This one was recommended by a fellow horror fan. One who normally recommends stuff I really end up loving, such as the film Frozen, and the book Evil (wow, neither are reviewed here yet!). But this one I just couldn’t get into... Continue reading

The Barrens (2012)

A man takes his family on a camping trip and becomes convinced they are being stalked by the legendary monster of the New Jersey Pine Barrens: the Jersey Devil.

I received this movie to review the other day, and honestly hadn’t heard anything about it. Of course I’ve heard stories about the Jersey Devil over the years, but at the time I sat down to watch this I couldn’t remember... Continue reading

Don’t Go in the Woods (2010)

A group of indie rockers seek solitude deep in the woods to write songs for a new album. But they soon realize they're not alone when a sledgehammer-brandishing intruder arrives in this chilling musical slasher directed by actor Vincent D'Onofrio.

I saw the trailer for this movie months ago. I was a little leery about it, but it based on the trailer it looked interesting. Honestly, I sort of forgot all about it until last night when I was browsing new movies to Netflix streaming and saw this listed there... Continue reading

I like to read short stories between longer books for something different and quick. Also because if it sucks, well then I didn’t invest too much time or money... Continue reading

Friday The 13th by Simon Hawke (Book Review)

It was going to be a fun summer at Camp Crystal. The young counselors were getting ready for it while they joked about the scary rumors attached to the isolated camp. But evil was waiting in the shadows as the sun set. The laughter turned to screams...the easy living to agonized dying. For the light had gone and the wind was howling and it was -- Friday The 13th. This is the novelization to the hit Horror movie Friday The 13th.

These novelizations to the Friday The 13th movies are one of the hardest items to win on Ebay. Unless you are willing to spend $75+ for a good copy... Continue reading

Trapped by Jack Kilborn (Book Review)

It was supposed to be a harmless camping trip. Six wayward teenagers who'd run into trouble with the law, and their court-appointed guardians, Sara and Martin Randhurst. Three nights on a small, deserted island off of Michigan's upper peninsula. Then Martin told a campfire story about the island's history. Of the old civil war prison hidden in there, and the starving confederate soldiers who resorted to cannibalism to stay alive. Everyone thought it was funny. The group soon began to realize that this deserted island wasn't so deserted after all. And perhaps Martin's ridiculous story had more truth to it than anyone thought. What's the most horrifying thing you can imagine? This is a hundred times worse... Continue reading
