Fright Night 2: New Blood (2013)

Studying abroad in Romania, high schoolers Charley and Ed must stop a sexy vampire's chilling plan to bathe in the blood of a "new moon virgin" -- who happens to be Charley's ex-girlfriend. The guys enlist the help of a vampire-hunting TV show host.

After the disaster of Fright Night the remake, I didn’t think this sequel to the remake could be much better. And other then some obvious flukes, it was actually the better of the two. That’s saying a lot since it was filled with a bunch of nobodies, and it was obviously NOT a sequel. No way it could have been. Continue reading

Cut (2000)

The cast and crew of the horror flick Hot Blooded get a shock when a mysterious killer slaughters their director. Now, each time someone tries to complete the film there's another brutal slaying. But a little massacre isn't going to stop the next batch of bright would-be filmmakers: They'll finish the film if it kills them -- and it probably will -- in this gory horror flick starring Molly Ringwald.

Not a whole lot to say about this movie honestly. It's pretty straight forward, nothing awful, but nothing great. Continue reading

Plague Town by Dana Fredsti (Book Review)

Ashley was just trying to get through a tough day when the world turned upside down. A terrifying virus appears, quickly becoming a pandemic that leaves its victims, not dead, but far worse. Attacked by zombies, Ashley discovers that she is a 'Wild-Card' -- immune to the virus -- and she is recruited to fight back and try to control the outbreak. It's Buffy meets the Walking Dead in a rapid-fire zombie adventure!

I was asked to review this and had no idea what I was getting into other then it was a zombie book. I haven’t read many of those so I figured why not... Continue reading

Hell Night (1981)

[rating:3.5/5] This cult-favorite indie horror flick follows a group of four fraternity/sorority pledges as they brave a night of hazing in creepy old Garth Manor, where a crazed killer -- the sole survivor of a massacre at the house years before -- still roams the halls. Continue reading

Piranha (2010)

[rating:3/5] Alexandre Aja's remake of Joe Dante's campy 1978 horror film, is itself a satire of Steven Spielberg's Jaws. When an earthquake tears open the bottom of Lake Havasu, schools of carnivorous piranhas are released from their underwater lair, and the lake turns into a bloody, frenzied death trap for unwitting water-goers during spring break. Continue reading

[rating:3/5] A wild spring break night goes badly awry when Mary hits a pedestrian while driving home and instead of seeking help for the critically injured man, she batters the bloody body until he finally dies. The terrified girl buries the corpse in the woods to hide the evidence of her horrible crime but soon learns that her victim is, in fact, still alive -- and out for revenge. Continue reading

Red Hook (2009)

Despite her better judgment, college freshman Jenny reluctantly agrees to join her new friends in a New York City scavenger hunt. As the group receives mysterious text message clues, they're sent to dark, dangerous corners of the city. Soon, they realize that this is no innocent game, and winning could mean the difference between life and death.

The cover of this movie is what made me want to know more about the film, it looked spooky and brutal. So then I read the description for it. A horror movie where people go on a scavenger hunt and get killed. Sounds interesting. So then I read reviews. They were brutal. Everyone bashed the movie saying it was the worst movie they had ever seen. I wondered if that was really possible... Continue reading

ThanksKilling (2009)

While on their way home for Thanksgiving break, five college kids run afoul of a homicidal turkey that wants them dead. As the cursed bird hunts them down one by one, the survivors scramble to find a way to defeat the possessed creature. Will the bloodthirsty turkey make this their last Thanksgiving feast ever?

Are you a fan of horribly bad movies? Are you a fan of intentionally horribly bad movies that make you laugh? If not, don't bother with the movie. It really isn't a HORROR movie. Its more like a skit that would be done on MadTV or SNL... Continue reading

Black Christmas (2006)

Every Christmas for 15 years Billy has tried to escape from his jail cell, to return to his childhood home where he killed his family. He manages to escape and goes back home where he finds that his house is now a sorority house. This is a remake of the 1974 film, and this review is for the unrated version.

The first time I saw this was when it came out on DVD. I had seen the original once years before but didn't remember it enough to compare. A few days before writing this review I sat down to watch and review the original Black Christmas, so now I can compare... Continue reading
