Two down-on-their-luck aspiring horror movie filmmakers try to break out of their small hometown of Holliston, Mass., and into the Hollywood big leagues while struggling to make ends meet and learning to deal with the opposite sex. Starring horror directors Adam Green and Joe Lynch.

Being that I have “liked” Adam Green’s page on Facebook, I’ve often seen his updates regarding FearNet’s first original show, Holliston. But in all honesty, I had no idea what it was about... Continue reading

Werewolf: The Beast Among Us (2012)

When a mysterious creature terrorizes a village by moonlight, a local young man, Daniel, convinces a team of skilled werewolf hunters to let him join their quest to hunt it down. But as the villagers are attacked one by one and turned into vicious beasts, Daniel begins to fear that his ruthless foe is someone closer than anyone thinks.

I tend to say that Werewolf movies “aren’t my thing” but usually I end up enjoying them. Silver Bullet and Ginger Snaps are probably my two favorite, at least off the top of my head... Continue reading

[rating:3.5/5] When Rupert set out on a cruise with seven other people, he planned to swim a little, get some sun and relax. He certainly didn't plan to get shipwrecked. But after the yacht blew up, that's what happened -- he and his shipmates were stranded on a deserted island. One thing that really annoys me about movies like this, is that nobody seems surprised that there are demons. Or that in the case of this movie there is a talking guy in a statue with pins sticking out of his head, or that he’s sucking them inside the stone. If that was me I wouldn’t be acting like it was an every day event! Continue reading

Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988)

For Kirsty Cotton nightmares never end. Still fresh in her fevered memory are her father's skinned corpse, the evil machinations of her uncle Frank's reanimated body and the unspeakable perversity of the Cenobites. But the worst is yet to come. From beyond the Outer Darkness, from the darkest regions of the imagination comes Hellbound: Hellraiser II.

So this time around the daughter from the first movie is locked up in a loony bin because of what happened to her in the first film. She has a couple funny lines, especially “you have got to destroy that mattress!!” just the way it was delivered cracked me up. Anyhow we get a little recap of the end of the first movie right in the beginning... Continue reading

Hellraiser (1987)

A couple move into an old house and discover a hideous creature - the man's half-brother (and his wife's former lover) - hiding upstairs. Having lost his earthly body to three demons, the man's been brought back to life by a drop of blood on the floor. Soon, he's forcing his former mistress to bring him human sacrifices to complete his body.

I know I’ve seen this movie before but I didn’t really remember it except for a funky looking dude in an attic. I saw it many many years ago as a teenager and I just didn’t get the fascination with it. Recently the movie channels have been playing the first three so I decided to DVR them and attempt to get into them again… Continue reading
