Sidney Prescott, now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey and Gale, who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill and her Aunt Kate. Unfortunately, Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger. The summer before college, four teens on their way home from a competition’s after-party accidentally hit a stranger with their car. Assuming the man is dead, and afraid of what will happen to them if they call the police, they decide to dump his body in the water. Fast forward one year and each of them are receiving notes stating “I know what you did last summer”, its not long before people start dying in this movie slightly based on the novel "I Know What You Did Last Summer" by Lois Duncan.
